Complete and Partial Dentures

Complete Dentures (Immediate and Conventional)

These are removable conventional dentures. They come in a variety of materials fabricated both on and off site depending on your selection. For more information on our complete denture services please click here. When you need complete dentures there are several things to consider with your existing teeth.  They will have to be removed and then your gumline will need time to adjust. The decisions all come with special considerations that can be individually addressed during your consultation.

Partial Dentures

If you have existing teeth, they can be used as anchor points for your dentures.  A partial denture serves more purposes then the obvious.  When you lose teeth, the remaining teeth in your mouth will move to fill in the gaps.  Partials can serve to keep your existing teeth straight and prevent this movement.  For this reason it is important that you replace missing teeth promptly.

Denture Relines, Denture Repairs, and Denture Adjustments

Denture Relines

The part of the denture that rests against your gum-line is referred to as the base. It is usually pink and is the critical component of the dentures that provides comfort and holds them in place. Every two years your dentures need to be adjusted to perfectly match your gum line. It’s essentially a resurfacing or adjustment to the base in order to keep them snug. We make an impression of your gum line using putty and then we either do a hard denture reline or a soft reline.

Hard Reline

Every two years we recommend using a harder impression material which takes a stronger (uses more pressure) moulding of your gum line.

Soft Reline

Because a hard reline creates more pressure with a hard impression material, some patients with sensitive or tender gums may prefer a softer putty for the impression. Although forming an impression with a softer material is easier on the gums, the denture base does not fit as tightly to the gum line requiring more frequent visits to make adjustments (twice a year)

Denture Repairs

We all take great care of our dentures. Even so, from time to time they will need to be repaired. Hard food, dropping your dentures, stepping on them, these are all things that can happen to your dentures. We build our dentures using the highest quality materials available and the same holds true for our repair shop. We use top of the line acrylics and adhesives along with top of the line tools to restore your dentures back to tip top shape. We would ask that you never use glue or any other home remedy or adhesive to repair your own dentures. The materials can sensitive to the chemicals in them and/or they may not effectively hold leading to other serious risks.

There is never a good time to break your dentures, and we appreciate that you are likely in need of a fast repair. We get that. We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can. Need an emergency denture repair?

Denture Adjustments

Your dentures should always be comfortable and should not fall out on their own. If you find they are losing their hold or if they are not feeling as comfortable as they once did, then come on in for an adjustment.

Implant Overdentures

Implant Overdentures are dentures that are held on by surgically placed implants. This will allow you to chew your food better and speak more clearly. You do not have to worry about dentures becoming loose and would no longer need to apply messy denture adhesives to keep them in place. There are two different types of overdentures, fixed and removable. Consult with your denturist to see if you are a good candidate for implant overdentures.
